Dr. Patrick Chin is a distinguished orthopaedic surgeon based in Vancouver, British Columbia, specializing in shoulder, elbow, and knee reconstruction. He serves as a Clinical Associate Professor and Head of the Division of Upper Extremity in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of British Columbia. 

After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from Queen’s University in 1996 and completing his orthopaedic surgery residency in 2001, Dr. Chin pursued advanced fellowship training in sports medicine, arthroscopy, and adult shoulder and elbow reconstruction. His clinical expertise includes joint preservation, cartilage restoration, arthroscopic surgery, ligament reconstruction, and joint replacement. 

A board-certified and qualified medical expert in orthopaedic surgery, he provides clear, neutral, and defensible IME reports for shoulder, elbow, knee, and other musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions. 

Dr. Chin is qualified as a medical expert in orthopaedic surgery by the BC Supreme Court. Since 2007, he has performed more than 2,000 Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs), averaging 100–150 assessments annually. He has maintained an active clinical practice treating patients with shoulder, elbow, and knee injuries, sports-related injuries, degenerative joint conditions, and other complex musculoskeletal disorders since 2003. 

Dr. Chin currently serves as President of the Canadian Shoulder and Elbow Society, reflecting his leadership and commitment to advancing orthopaedic care, research, and education across Canada.
