Dr Wayne Ghesquiere MD FRCPC is a Clinical Infectious Diseases, Tropical Diseases and Internal Medicine consultant in Victoria BC as well as the former section chief for infectious diseases with the Vancouver Island Health Authority in Victoria, BC. Wayne is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine with UBC. He is an attending physician at the Royal Jubilee and the Victoria General Hospitals in Victoria. He has an inpatient and a private outpatient practice in infectious diseases.
Wayne is the chair of the annual Infectious Diseases Update in Victoria now in it’s 27th year. Wayne is the medical director of the Nova Travel Medicine Clinic. He served as the Co-Site Director of GeoSentinel surveillance (BC) which is a joint project of the International Society of Travel Medicine & Centre of Diseases Control, Atlanta USA.

Areas of special interests
Wayne has interest in all areas of infectious diseases but has a special interest in Hepatitis B, C, HIV, STI’s, tropical and travel medicine as well as infections in immunocompromised patients
Teaching
Wayne also enjoys teaching and presenting at national and international meetings. He has published in leading medical journals ie The New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Clinical Infectious Diseases, CMAJ and Open Medicine.
Research Interests
Wayne has conducted over 40 clinical trials in the areas of exploring and helping to develop: New Hepatitis C and Hepatitis B treatments, Shingles, RSV and meningitis vaccines.
