RebalanceMD Hand Therapy provides specialized rehabilitation for conditions affecting the hand, wrist and upper extremity. What is a Certified Hand Therapist?
A Certified Hand Therapist, or CHT, is an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist who has completed advanced clinical experience in hand therapy and passed a comprehensive certification examination in upper-limb rehabilitation. Certified Hand Therapists maintain their credential through ongoing professional development and recertification.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your therapist will ask about your symptoms, medical or surgical history, daily activities and recovery goals. The assessment may include movement, strength, sensation, swelling, pain and functional testing. You will leave with an individualized treatment plan and clear guidance on next steps.
Do I need a referral?
Referral and insurance requirements vary. Please check your extended health plan before booking. If you are recovering from surgery, bring any available referral, operative report, precautions or rehabilitation protocol to your first appointment.
Are custom splints included in the appointment fee?
Custom orthoses and splints may involve separate material or fabrication charges depending on the device required. Your therapist will discuss the recommended option and related costs with you before proceeding.
Will my extended health plan cover Hand Therapy?
Coverage varies by insurer and plan, including whether services provided by an Occupational Therapist are eligible. Please confirm your coverage, referral requirements and annual limits directly with your insurer.
